PSU should really have done the right thing here, he should be in some back heat.
Rupp started the year with a 1:54 high 800 losing....should he have been put in with the 4:10-4:15 milers the next race because of his first race was so bad in comparison to the year before? The coach knew better about his fitness and where he belonged, so the answer was no.
I agree some of the seeds may just be wrong...but i also think you need to have a little leway for coaches to be honest with how they think their athlete is ready to perform. Maybe Borchers is in that kind of shape and the coach knows it, and the 1:52 is irrelevent. When it comes down to it, we should be able to trust most coaches judgement to do the right thing (i know that's not always the case). But maybe, just maybe the PSU coach is doing the right thing.
