Is your impression that basic grammar isn't taught until university - and then only at the top schools?
WTF were you being taught in middle and high school English? Or was it an elective in your school system?

There's really no need to reassert the already obvious fact that most privelaged, educated people sorely lack perspective and humility.
You can walk into any classroom at any university, college, high school, or even middle school and find a number of students who mistake education for their own "genius." It gets tiring sometimes running into so many people who are genuinely convinced of their own greatness without a single accomplishment or contribution to their name. Sorry, but just because you're being spoonfed other people's life work through neatly organized text books and lectures and you "get it," it doesn't set you apart from the crowd in any way.
Sorry a-holes, find a new source of pride.
