I can zone out during a lot of different paces up to like 6:20, but as for feeling effortless I would say 6:55+ feels pretty effortless
for me it depends on what I've done the last 1-3 days
if i've done a ton of mileage with some workouts over the last 3 days, a run might not feel easy unless it is at 8:30 pace
if i am relatively fresh, 7 min/mile might feel easy
i'm a relatively heavier runner so maybe that is why i'm more sensitive to what i've done recently
Yes, the main variable is not the pace, but the training leading up to that run.

I would agree with that. Day after long run or intervals, heavy legs. Day after sprints though, sometimes legs have some pep to them if I don't overdo it.
Just did 4 miles in 27ish (tee shirt and shorts, man is it cold out), and it was effortless, so I guess high 6 minute miles are effortless for me as well sometimes.
Never ran in My 30's but nice to know that I could have run that quick given my 56 year old easy pace is similar.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
