Since the pepper spray guy bumped this thread let's hear from you dads and moms that took the kids out earlier than 6 months now that we're ten years down the road. Are they all in remedial classes now cause of scrambled brains like some of the posters implied they would be?
If you have the chariot with the baby swing accessory and you are running on a flat path, he/she should be okay.
Think about when the baby is in the car (in the baby car seat) on a bumpy road. Is he/she getting a bunch of concussions? Neck trauma?
We have the BOB Ironman and the Thule Glide. I also demoed a BOB SUV for about 3 months.
If you need a stroller for ANYWHERE and want the jogger to also double as a normal stroller for getting around (i.e. it's not going to be exclusively used for running), I'd recommend the BOB SUV. Additionally, if you are more the hobby jogger type (not running very hard with the stroller) or the place where you will be running has a lot of curbs and turns, I'd also recommend the BOB SUV. Great accessories, great storage space and pretty easy to run with.
If you are going to be using your stroller for jogging exclusively, on mostly smooth, straight terrain, and you are going to run a bit faster than a shuffle, I love the BOB Ironman. The bicycle-type wheels are larger and smoother than the wheels on the SUV. You cannot make the front wheel swivel, and the wheel base is long. On the plus side, you can push it with a single finger on most smooth surfaces. It does take a bit of effort to turn (tip up or push hard) on anything more than a long wide turn. I like that it has a lot of storage, the rain cover is great, and it's easy to adjust the tracking - since the stroller only really goes straight, getting the tracking right is super important. I like this stroller the most - it's my go-to. It's pretty large for storing, although it gets kinda flat - the wheels are quite large and it takes up a lot of space.
If you need a stroller for RACING or you are a fast runner (or have a long stride), I would recommend the Thule Glider - it's like the BOB ironman with the bicycle wheels that only go straight, but it's way lighter than the BOB ironman. The storage space SUCKS on it, though, and it's more fragile than the BOBs.
Couple other things, in effort-based training, my wife and I are usually between :40 - 1:00 or so slower per mile with the Ironman. The BOB SUV we are more towards the 1:00 mark, we can both go a bit faster in the Thule, maybe between :30 and :40 slower per mile.
Getting used to running with the stroller can be difficult, so see how you feel on short easy runs first, and if it doesn't work out or you find yourself getting injured, STOP DOING IT. Running with the stroller altered my stride quite a bit, even on short easy runs, and it actually exacerbated an injury I had to the point where I had no option but to stop doing it. My wife has had better luck - she runs with the stroller almost every day and has not experienced any problems.
I agree with your choice but not your methods. I stared jogging with my kid in the SUV @ 3 months. They have a car seat attachment to which I used the infant sling.
My kid is now 4. No issues other than she thinks she's faster than me.
Going back id get one with a lockable front wheel not a fixed on - hard to use in stores etc.
However i live in snowbelt and this thing is great for running and taking kid to school in snow. Also great for running on ice - keeps you more planted.
The slowdown is real. Though I've read even holding on doesn't ruin your form.
I'm a 16:45 5k runner and I can barely run 8min miles pushing (combined stroller + kid > 50 lbs).
So are the BOB and Thule models the only viable options?
Do people agree the the BOB is the best all-in-one option (I.e. for jogging and everyday strolling)?
I get this is a super old thread, but realistically there's no need for a jogging stroller. I get that maybe it's difficult to find someone to watch the kid, but I can't imagine wanting to suffer the discomfort of running with a stroller as a better alternative.

The Thule Chariot also converts to a bike trailer. Actually it is a bike trailer that can convert to a running stroller with an additional purchase. I would've gotten the BOB but I didn't want to buy both a stroller and a trailer.
Interesting to see that even 10 years ago the BOB was the popular choice.

And how many children do you have?

0 and repeated for emphasis, couldn't imagine wanting to run with a stroller
I have the Thule Urban Glide and it works great once you dial the position and wheel tracking settings. I was running my kid around at 4-5months old, but I used a neck restraint add-on that Thule sells (keeps the kids head from bobbing around). She loves it, I get out for a run (max ~7 miles) and it frees up my wife too. Win, win, win.

I don't believe anyone wants to run with a stroller. However, running with my son is a different story as is simply running at all some days. I want to do those things and the stroller makes both possible as uncomfortable as it may be.

We have both the single and double BOB revolution strollers and two Burley bike trailers with the jogging kit. The BOBs mostly sit in the basement while the Burleys get used almost every weekday.
The single BOB is okay, but the storage is tiny and exposed to road grime and the rain cover is a pain to put on. The double BOB is borderline dangerous, anytime one wheel hits a dip in the sidewalk the stroller wants to veer off in the other direction. Making sharp turns is also a pain, all of the weight is ahead of the rear wheels and when you push down on the handlebars the suspension absorbs some of the force, so you have to push down really hard to get the front wheel to pop up.
The Burleys are great, they're really light, they have tons of protected storage - I can easily fit two grocery bags plus my kids' school bags in the back - they have an integrated rain/wind cover, the weight is balanced so it's easy to pop up the front wheel to change direction, they're narrower than the double BOB but have more room inside, and they can be converted for towing behind a bike or skiing. Only downsides are that they are a pain to fold, and you can't swivel the front wheel for strolling in tight spaces.

I've run with my son for the last year and half, and he loves it. We've run 2 5k's together and I've taken him as long as 9 miles. It's great bonding time and he already associates his Dad with running. Wouldn't trade those runs for anything.
I use one hand to swing and one hand to push/steer, I forgot the model that we have but they're very efficient. He's nearing 2 here soon. Going to take him for a few miles after I pick him up later today.
We had twins and purchased the original baby jogger. When my kids were about 3 we entered a 5 mile race and finished in 35 minutes flat. I probably had no business whatsoever being in the race because it is difficult to control a stroller going downhill. In the past 23 years the brands and models have changed but my advice would be to spend enough to have a stroller that is easy to fold and putaway and that can jump curbs without upsetting your child if that becomes necessary

We have three kids and all my long runs have been with a stroller this year on very hilly roads/sidewalks. We have both a single BOB and a double BOB. The double is much more stable at high speeds than the single. I came to this thread looking for recommendations on a faster single stroller.
Running up a 15% incline with a double BOB is no joke. Every time I do it I feel stronger. Sure is a hell of a way to get in shape. The strength and core stability I've developed has been unreal.
Kids love it. They either nap or watch a tablet.
I totally agree with the bonding comment. My heart melts when running up a hill with a kid or two cheering me on. It's the best and I look forward to my long runs like never before.
I commented on this thread when it was initially posted and now my daughter is a teenager :(
I pushed her ALL THE TIME in the BOB SUV and we would run right around 6:00 pace on most days, unless on the trails. If you're seriously considering strollers, please know the difference between the BOB models, because the SUV is light years different than Revolution despite looking somewhat the same.
I have had two more kids since posting on this thread and we ended up getting both a Revolution for around town and a double SUV for runs. Now the teenager just watches the younger kids when my wife and I run, but I will still take our youngest out for runs on occasion.
Fun fact: the daughter that was just a little tyke when I first posted just won her conference XC championship this past November :)
Good luck to all the new parents. Still recommend the BOB SUV but go with whatever you like the best.
