good point smelly. Perhaps I was reading too much into it all - it seems there are those who would rather that these teams not come at all. Good to hear your positive attitude..and good luck this weekend.

The only problem I have is when a team sends a group of guys who don't train together to the meet... but I don't think that really ever happens. At least not in the last several years, and it doesn't look like it will happen this year.
I wish every team in the country would come to this race. Its the one time a year where the best distance teams can race each other.
Every year, the Boulder Running Company has a lot of runners meeting each other for the first time on the starting line (sometimes in the hotel before the race). However, they aren't technically breaking any rules.
I'll go with RunOhio / Boulder Running Company for the women and Asics Aggies / Zap Fitness / Boulder Running Company for the Men.

Jankowski will win.
Know what you are talking about before you get on here and make a stupid statment like that, there is 1 girl and 1 guy that might not know eachother on the BRC team. Team members live all over Colorado so they are not always at the same races. There is not 1 runner that lives in a town where there is not another BRC team member. Get your facts straight.
This is a team race. The individual race is in February.
True, but past results strongly suggest that an unattached athlete wins.
Wrong Ventura county athlete
Whom besides Charles Davis lives in Omaha?

Clusters of two or three athletes knowing each other does not equal training together. I was responding to the guy who was against teams that don't train together. Colorado is a big state, and having athletes in Fort Collins, Boulder, Highlands Ranch and Colorado Springs (amongst others) does not make a training group.
However, like I said, they are not breaking any rules. The more better quality teams at the race, the more legitimacy the race has. It takes all types.

weather.com has "light wintery mix" predicted for saturday in lexington. this should be interesting.
Which typically means more cold wet freezing rain than it does snow. Sucks...a lot.

Weather.com has actually updated the forecast. The rain has now moved to Sunday (and only 30% chance at that) with 20% chance being the highest chance for precipitation from now to Saturday. High of 39, overcast, 9mph wind. Should be pretty standard December XC weather!
The rules need to be modified. In some places you can lives hours apart yet be on the same team, yet I live right over the state border of my team, train and race with them all year long for several years and can't be on their team for club. It totally sucks.
Collar counties often have reciprocity with neighboring associations. What association do you live in and what is your neighbor?
And you can still live miles apart from your club as long as you were a resident of the association and member of the club at one time and maintained your dues in both after you moved away. I believe you have to had been a member of the club and association for 3 years.
Most of the guys on our team do not train together, but I've never thought of this as cheating or anything. Because of our jobs and locations, we can't get to see each other too much. We all know each other through one connection or another, and we're all in the same association, but without a doubt we'll be together for the first time Friday night.
I don't feel bad about this as we won't be winning - we just want to represent a team - and this is about the only time of year you can do this in cross country if you're over the age of 25.
There are plenty of teams out there who are bending the rules BADLY for possible glory. Heck, I know of a husband/wife duo who are representing different clubs from different states - and neither of those states are the one they live in now.
No help to the border state person that never lived in the club's association.
Wow...no one has bothered to make any predictions on which runner(s) will get tasered at the post race party then hauled off to jail like the guy from Atlanta two years ago!
Or better yet, who's tapping some new tail afterwards?!?
Durango's on richmond rd have the best margharitas ever, like liquid crack.
furlongs (also on richmond road just before you get to downtown) have excellent food, and it's reasonable. Good italian on north locust hill drive off richmond road just past the man o war blvd.......it's called portabella's. Another good italian is portafinos in downtown, it's a little higher prices though
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
