YES! This so eloquently and perfectly explained what I too believe happened. Post of the Week! I too am a huge Jenny fan.
I do believe she was threatented by Susan K. who is no doubt a fantastic runner. But I don't think she really had anything to worry about. If Jenny had just continued on then Susan would have gotten her side stitch and fell back like she did and Jenny would have won. But Jenny felt threatened and she put so much pressure on herself and made this race so overly important. She basically admitted that she came back to get the one title that had eluded her, that was in her view the most coveted one. And yes, she pretty much claimed it before she raced. And I do think Jenny took all the glory to heart and believed this title was her due and she was far superior to all other runners in the race, and how dare anyone challenge her. I do think Jenny learned a lot in this race, about herself, her humanity, and yes the importance of humility. Sorry so long
