Seriously, Pre has been dead for thirty four years now, so tell me how would you know.? Oregon Ducks National championships, back to back and Rupp wins the individual title – I think all Oregon fans are happy you on the other hand are a fool.

You write, "Read the entire thread before you comment."
But apparently you neglected to read, "so really what SOME OF YOU are saying is that to be a true champion..."
My standards are somewhat lower than yours. I won't even advise you to read the entire post before commenting. But would it be too much to ask for you to at least read the entire first line of the post?
Just hilarious.
By the way, I am not mister rogers.
There is no rule, just as in there is no rule saying you can't steal signs in baseball, but that is looked down on. It's an unwritten rule that if somebody has been leading while somebody else drafts and that person in the lead asks the drafter to take over for a bit then they should. Otherwise you gaining an unfair advantage.
Unwritten rule? Seriously that is your point argument, wow.
Personally, I felt Chelanga ran a foolish, predictable race last year. A 4:23 1st mile is like blasting up a steep hill...the energy output VS return is negative.
There were plenty of places on the course...particularly after a hill, that would have been ideal for a Chelanga breakaway.
Also, by sitting back in the pack the first 2km, all the other favorites would be thinking "where the heck is Chelanga?"
I wanna know where the heck was Greg Jimmerson, and what advice he was giving Chelanga??????
thread should read: Why you can't argue with the mentally handicap

I wonder if Sammy C. can make it 2 in a row.
I could really see him defending his title of "NCAAXC Silver Medalist." He will have a challenge from Fernandez, but he can do it.

No i should have renamed this thread why was rupp such a coward last year. He felt he was the inferior runner and raced like one. He drafted as much as he could. That bump that he gave to Chalenga clearly shows that Rupp has zero class.
Here is how the conversation went
Chalenga: Hey rupp please take the lead, I've been leading the last 5k while you have been drafting.
Rupp: No, I'm just gonna sit here like a pansy
Strange, this time last year all the Rupp haters were arguing that Rupp had no chance at winning, in which case, if they believed their own words, Rupp should have run exactly the race he did. Anyway, Rupp for much, perhaps even most, of the race wasn't even in a position to draft off Chelenga, he was all alone by himself in 2nd place chasing a fool who went out way too fast. Thus history repeated itself, with Rupp (Oregon) defeating Chelenga (Kenyan national), just as his coach Salazar (Oregon) defeated Henry Rono (Kenyan national), who also renowned for going out like a fool.
i forgot which class of runners were better, runners from oregon or runners from kenya....hmmmm
Wow. So Rono and Chelanga are fools. I guess when you won your NCAA titles you executed just like Rupp.

Runners from Kenya are far better. But, somehow, when they run a 4:08 first mile like Rono, they lose to Oregon runners. But, can't be a foolish strategy, or at least I'm not qualified to say so, because I never won a NCAA title myself.

I see how this happened. Hagar is so dumb that somewhere along the way some competitor convinced him of this unwritten rule - so as to beat him.
Hagar never realised that he was taken for a fool and now goes around thinking this really is a rule. Poor guy.
I will be ready for any tactics utilized by any runner! I have planned for the sit and kick men. I have planned for any type of bluff. I have a race plan that will enable me to run the best 10000 meter time I have ever run no matter what the other men do. I will be waiting for all and any tactics, with a smile, because I know my training and what I am going to run.
Sammy: "How do you like me now??"
I was the one bitching about his tactics of going out hard etc. This is just the mind set I hoped he had coming into this. I wanted him to win, but wanted him to know he was gonna do it. Amazing is all I can say. Scary run actually.

Well i guess the question has been answered. Sammy did defend his title. He also proved that had Rupp not drafted off of him that he would have destroyed Rupp. Way to go Sammy.
If you were the underdog in a national championship and knew you could win because this guy chose to lead the whole thing, you wouldn't take advantage of that and sit behind him, then give it all you've got on the home stretch to win? What would you do? Slow down at the end and say "hey sammy, you lead so you deserve this"??? Or would you sacrifice your only shot at winning by taking the lead?
