The other issues is that World champioship medals didn't show up til the 80s (and even then it was only every 4 years for a while). If they were around in the 60s/70s you would have to think the odds are guys like Ryun, Liqouri, Scott, Pre, Centro would have a good chance of having some medals

On number two you are wrong. In the Bronze position (aka 3rd) in the same race as Schul was a runner that would become a legendary coach at Oregon, his name, Bill Dellinger.

In what world would you rate Ed Eyestone above some one like Lynn Jennings (3 wxc championships and an olympic bronze and some indoor silvers)? And I love kennedy but I have a hard time saying he was better than someone like Spivey (has championship medal and fast times) or some one like Henry Marsh or Croghan.
