Just looking for some opinions on what the best brand of calf sleeves out there is. There are several on the market, some of which are quite expensive, and I'm wondering which ones are the best.

Another person buying into a needless trend that has been popularized by elites fulfilling sponsorship duties.
Save your money.
WTF is a calf sleeve, and what is it used for?
Please answer me OP.
i used one after i strained my calf muscle to keep it warm prior to running and during the early part of my run, it helped a lot. I forgot what kind though
Warm up pants.
Or tights/spandex pants if you prefer.
I have the 2XU. I have had recurring micro tears in my L calf for 3+ years. I've been thru countless hours of Physical Therapy session and stretching, strengthening and icing on my own.
A discussion with a orthopedic doctor who runs led me to try wearing the calf sleeve. I haven't had one calf problem since. Well worth the $55 I spent on the pair (even though I don't wear one on my other calf).
i wear Zensah. Never during running. Just while at work all day. I believe the inconclusive science says that it can help speed recovery and improve circulation. Doctors use them for women with vein issues, etc. Inconclusive science one way or the other. I figure if they're good enough for doctors (and for elites!) then they're worth a try. There are many gimmicks out there in my opinion (ie, the fuel belt, the watches that supposedly track distances but are waaaaay too generous, etc) but this compression fad is one I'm buying in to.
I like the 2XU as well. And I don't know one professional runner that is sponsored by a company that makes calf sleeves except i know Chris Solinsky wears an unmarked version
Hit up Walmart and go to the pharmacy. Look for the diabetic section and get some cheap ones there. I got some compression socks for $5 from there the other week as I was skeptical about them. I think they help. From what I've read they promote blood flow which helps promote and speed up recovery. For $5, I think it's worth the investment.
Zensah makes nice ones. About $40. I've worn them in a cold marathon, and they were nice.
I got hooked up with a pair of the Nike calf sleeves and they're amazing. Not sure if you can get them online though cause I got them from a Nike sponsored coach.
Do these things help with calf cramps during long/hard runs?

I am no doctor or scientist, but these things work.
I use Zensah too, seem to be a good combo of support/comfort at a reasonable price.
Um, the proper term is calf panties
RecoFit calf sleeves for me. I wear the Skins tights most days at work under my dress pants. When it's too hot to wear full-leg tights, I'll go with the calf sleeves. I've ran in them a few times too and it's really temperature dependent. If it's hot out, they annoy the hell out of me.
RecoFit's seem to work well, even if some of it is just a mental benefit, but after a few months of wear, they need washed in between every use or else end up sagging.
