If that's true, it's extraterrestrial.
My Texas h.s. record went from 4:30.5 in 1966 to 4:15.0 in 1967 to 4:09.3 in 1973, and there it has remained.

4:14 - :15, early 80s, at least from what I remembered the AD at my former HS said to me. Northeast L.A. area.
Nearby, Downtown L.A. I believe is 4:09 (Belmont HS) by Roman Gomez.
I went to high school with Greg Anderson at Parkside in Dundas Ontario and he has the school records for 1500 at 3:46 and 3000 at 8:00.2
Those won't be broken ever.
Imagine being the second best guy on the team a full lap behind in a 3000.

My school actually has about 1200 students......There is about 20-30 kids on the track team. Before my year, the girls record was about 6:15, no body competes in the distance events. There is however semi-talented sprinters and mid-d kids.
Spalding Institute in Peoria, IL (since consolidated) was 4:25 by Steve Lawless in 1983.
Peoria IL - Bergan H.S. (since consolidated with Spalding to form Notre Dame HS)was 4:15 by Eric Volkert in 1981.
Peoria Notre Dame (IL) High School is 4:20.12 in 2002 by Ryan Davis, at State.

Not a single Class or the Open has a time as fast as that.
King went at least that fast, in 1981.
Some fast times recently .... I'd like to know who ran that in 1976
