"Patriot League Champs...
1 Navy Class of the league
2 American Looked great last weekend
3 Army Giving them the nod over Bucknell
4 Bucknell Just barely behind Army in a close battle
5 Lehigh In no mans land
6 Holy Cross Barely beats out Colgate
7 Colgate See above
8 Lafayette Is it indoor yet?"
haha well said but i dont think American (nor Bucknell) has a chance at beating Army
I heard he was running in the HERPS and transferred to the Patriot League (American) to take on a young Lyle Tolli but since Tolli hasn't been 100% he's just biding his time running 300km weeks and feeding on a steady diet of womens volleyball players.
Ummmm ok.

peppermint patty mac....where do you go to school?
we were trying to figure it out at practice the other day...main guesses being either bucknell or army.
I actually graduated a few years ago so technically Im not going to any school in the PL. You could probably figure it out if you really wanted to though. Its not bucknell or army.
Standing by my picks pretty much from last week nothing happened last weekend except American may have run those times on a short course so I might switch Army with American.

2.Army

Bucknell beat a Lasalle team at Penn State National (Lockhaven) that was 9th at Paul Short. I think they are going to surprise some people this weekend.
LaSalle ran without their 3 man Tom Panulla, Bucknell ran their full squad at Lock Haven. That could hurt LaSalles score quite a bit. Still an impressive run by Bucknell. Personally I'd like to see Bucknell get in there and shake it up a bit by beating American and Army, but I just dont see it happening.
Navy has been outstanding all season and they havent showed any signs of slowing down. But going through results and such, I think American will give Navy a run and possible have a shot to upset for the win, but they'll need some help.
Navy and AU are just flat out deeper 1-6 than Army and Bucknell. AU's 1-5 spread went from 43 sec. at Navy to 40 sec at W+M to 34 sec. at UVA. On paper, Navy's spread looks less impressive, but take Hanko out and you'll see Navy's real strength, their 2-5 spread. 18 sec. at their home meet, got crunched at Roy Griak with 1:40 spread, but has turned it around at Paul Short with an amazing 24 sec. and a bitch slapping 11 sec. spread at the Star meet.
Add one point that Hanko should receive + a 20 sec. 2-5 spread = PLC Champs no doubt. Only AU has a 2-5 spread remotely close, 11 sec. at UVA which was is pretty damn good too. So its pretty clear to see that this race will come down to who can get 3-4-5 in before anyone else.
Army and Bucknell need to step up and get some guys up front. Army has a tight top 3 and Bucknell's top runner has been pretty tough all year. The more individuals up front, the better for AU, Army and Bucknell. I like Au's chances because I think Army and Bucknell's top runner are tough and will run great. Also, the course at Colgate is pretty tough and just looking over the schedule, the easiest course AU has run all season was at Navy...which isnt the flattest course around. UVA' course might of been short, but its tough as hell. I think that will be an advantage for the eagles.
Nonetheless, should be a great race this weekend.
1. American - pulls the upset.
2. Navy - runs great, gets beat late
3. Army - if their 4-6 get going, could be a 3 team race
4. Bucknell - Can't match Army's top 3
5. Colgate - they run tough at home and surprise
6. Lehigh - just not as good as last year
7. Holy X - I hope they beat Lafayette
8. Lafayette - will be practicing hand off's mid-race
The forecast for this saturday at racetime is looking like high 50's with a 50% chance of rain and 20mph winds. unless this big front in the midwest stalls it looks like we're gonna get a repeat of what this meet was like last time it was at colgate. predictions for the meet:
1. harry lang xc course - will be muddy, will take no prisoners, expect several DNF's
2. american - i just can't bet against them
3. navy - the hills will make them regret racing so often this season
4. army - edges bucknell
5. bucknell - ^^^
6. lehigh
7. holy cross
8. colgate
9. lafayette
The official alumni hungover pre-race jog will take place at 9:30ish at the Fieldhouse (bottom of the hill, next to the basketball/hockey rinks). Excessive trash-talking and random mid-run surges are strongly encouraged.
what about sitting back then hammering from 200 out? that's cool too, right?
Not sure that'd be the best spot to meet. Security is supposed to be pretty tight down there with Tony Blair speaking. Not to mention the football game and its parents weekend. That area is going to be a zoo. Maybe meeting in front of Reid (the ice rink/basketball court) would be better.
Bucknell ftw.
i heard donner and mooney were planning on bringing a 2-person orange buffalo costume and prancing around the meet in it. can any bucknell kids confirm or deny???
Navy has all but sealed this thing. AU ran impressively at UVa, but had been shellacked by the middies earlier this season. I think 1 AU runner cracked Navy's top 7 at the Navy Invite- and clearly Navy has gotten even better since then. They finished 4th at Paul Short to Indiana, Iona, and NC State- no other team in the League has proven that they are capable of runing with teams like that. Furthermore, not only do they have a likely NCAA Qualifier in Hanko, but they have an excellent pack. James Pearson (24:20ish at Paul Short), Ken Bunnell (3rd at Army-Navy), and Cody Rome (24:20ish at Paul Short) are potentially the 2nd 3rd and 4th best runners in the Patriot League- Reiter and Eustis should be right with them. Then you have Della Pelle, Horel, and Haney, plus potentially the Mid's 4th straight PL Freshman of the Year either Dean Black or Kyle Sattterwhite.
The questions we should be asking are:
-Did Navy even bother to taper for this meet? Can they make it to NCAAs?
-Who is going to finish 2nd and 3rd?
-How many years in a row is Navy going to win the Patriot League? They have a very young team.
Heres the way I see it:
1) Navy- They should have no problem here... they should have bigger and better things on their minds.
2) American- Definitely the 2nd best after their race at UVa
3) Army- lacks the firepower up front without Jon Anderson or John McKowski, but still has better runners than Bucknell
4) Bucknell- not very good this year, definitely not good enough to run with Navy or AU.
5) Lehigh
6) Holy Cross
7) Colgate
8) Lafayette
Wow, Stafi, whats your beef against Bucknell? Prob your top school, couldnt get in and had to settle for Lafayette huh?
Bucknell is going to win it. Navy is going to get bogged down in the mud like last year at regionals, American will see what happens when the race is a full 8K, and Army's lack of depth will show through.
100 percent wrong stitch--the buffalo suit is brown.
3-4 years ago navy 1-5'd american at the season opener as well.
Come patriot leagues it was american 1,2, 5,6,8
This should be a classic battle of how long can navy hold their peak vs the hard charing au eagles that always seem to be way better at the end.
Army and Bucknell certainly in the mix for second as well if one of these two falters.
i'm betting on....centro and the eagles.
results?
