If oregon alums had to choose between keeping their XC titles or their track titles which would they choose?
If oregon alums had to choose between keeping their XC titles or their track titles which would they choose?
This is the stupidest question ever. They would definitely get rid of the track titles.
Hayward was built on the back of the cross team's success. It would never have become track town without the focus on distance runners and the success of the cross team.
I don't know about that, how about Jim Bailey, Otis Davis, Dyrol Burleson, Harry Jerome, Roscoe Cook, Joaquim Cruz, Wade Bell, Jim Grelle, Jerry Tarr, Neal Steinhauer, Mac Wilkins, Dean Crouser, Ken Flax, Les Tipton and et al..? None of these were XC runners, but every one was a champion (NCAA or Olympian) who put Oregon on the map. No, it was track and field competitors who were the impetus for cross country champions and championships in later years. I am sure that Oregon would give up a XC championship before it would give up a track and field championship.
