so he'd only improve 1 second? you have to think it'd be more than just a second for a guy who has never focused on it. I'd say 3:28/3:29. The WR is 3:26. The world record holder of an adjacent distance event wouldnt be more than a few seconds back.
Yes, he wouldn't improve much more than a second. The 5000m and 10000m have significant differences in energy substrate distribution. With his 49 second 400m speed, if he were able to run 3:28, Bekele would need something like 25:30 or better 10k ability and that just isn't happening.
