You must have visited a different France than I did. My experience with French cuisine is lots of meat, lots of bread, lots of butter, lots of cheese, and very little by way of vegetables (fruits are a different story). They do eat a lot of fish, though.
This is very different than the traditional Med diet which is lots of vegetables and spreads with olive oil, lots of fish, and very little butter or meat.
