Could also be your glutes which was the case with me after 20 yrs hamstring problems, that was the weakness. Unfortunately rest of legs are shot now anyway!
Same here. I have been working on glute strength for a couple of years now and this definitely helps. But then i get excited about not hurting again, ramp up the training, and end up back in the same boat with the hams. Like another poster said, one strain in one ham causes a chain reaction to the stride and then the peroneals and achilles start to hurt. I know with reduced mileage, no speed, strength and deep tissue, i'll be back. but my 2-3 month meltdowns tend to negate any progress i make while pain free.
ahh to have some young legs and know that i should have been doing maintenance then!
