Wariner's been injured, Wariner hasn't been under Hart long enough to make a difference.
The BroJo's are ass backwards in thinking Merritt is ever better than Wariner. If both runners run up to potential Wariner is still much faster over 400m.
Sure, I acknowledge that Wariner's problem could be his lack of top-end speed and his need to over-exert himself early in the race.
But wouldn't your logic suggest you apply the same argument to a marathoner who was running an excellent time (relative to his/her other performances) and crashed badly at 25 miles?
It seems to me that there is no simple way (e.g. watching the race) to diagnose unexpectedly premature deceleration (fun term, no?) as being due either to lack of strength or lack of speed. Before making this judgment, I think you would need to at least obtain data on the athlete's historical training, top-end speed, and physiology. Clyde Hart has that kind of info but we don't. Given this, let's not pretend that we're smarter than we are.
If Warner is lacking strength this year due to injury or lack of time with Hart it would show the most in multi-round meets like the World Championships. Remember, last year he BEAT Merritt in all the single day meets except for one. He LOST to Merritt in all the multi-round meets.
