Common problem in todays society where we're always sitting, shortened hip flexors, inactive glutes and overworking legs a result. running gait looks very bouncy, and showhorse like, to the extent where it makes onlookers cringe, as the runner (at 100%) finishes a road race in just under 6min pace!
so, thoughts please. by strengthening, realigning, balancing the body and getting the right groups of muscles working (together with the basic training principles of running, rest,aerobic/ana work, easy, speed); how much can the runner save (At same effort) per mile?
My view is that, depending of the severity of it: there's potentially 15-30seconds! Yes, 30 seconds per mile. Bear in mind, this sceanrio's only applicable to a certain breed of runners. Not your high-flying hige-schooler, or university whizzkid, but your struggling to break into a team athlete with a 19min 5k.
