Goal Race: Chicago
Goal Time: 2:35-2:40
Weather moderated a bit in my neck of the woods for the second half of the week which was great. Running without the humidity felt awesome, even if it was only for two days.
M- AM: 4 easy, PM: 6 easy + 10x100m strides
T- AM: 3 up w/ 5x100m strides, 5x1 mile with 400m jog/walk recovery. (5:24, 5:23, 5:29, 5:32, 5:38), 2 down. Haven't run a workout other than tempo runs for a couple months so my pacing was a bit off. I had been hoping to average 5:35-5:40 so I was shocked to run this fast in the heat and humidity and in the middle of my highest mileage week ever. For comparison, I was running like 10-15 secs/mile slower (and running much less mileage in cooler temps) for this before I ran my half marathon PR of 1:18 so this is my first indication that the training is paying off and I may achieve my goal. PM: 6 easy.
W- AM: 7 easy, PM: 13 hard...very humid.
TH- AM: 8 easy, PM: 4 very easy
F- AM: 4 easy, PM: 20 steady in 2:20. Last 30 minutes fast.
S- AM: 9 moderate.
S- PM: 13+ hard.
