As for me, I ran approximately 62 miles this week plus 2.5 hours on the arc-trainer. This was a cutback week, in which I both reduced my overall mileage, and swapped some of my easy runs for the arc-trainer/elliptical. This coming week, I return to 90 MPW reality.
Also, I got a nice reinforcement of my training. I was in Chicago over the weekend for a conference. The weather was just about perfect on Sunday morning – relatively low humidity, and 60 degrees. Discovery: when you do 90 mile weeks in hot and very humid conditions, and then cut your mileage back substantially, while running in cool and dry conditions, the result is a sub-8:00 easy pace. Neat!
Monday: No running. An hour on the elliptical, plus strength training.
Tuesday: 11 miles total. In the morning, 9 very easy miles on the treadmill (8:59 pace), plus yoga class (7 miles before class, 2 after). In the evening, 2 easy miles outside (8:31 pace).
Wednesday: In the morning, 11 miles on treadmill, including a six mile tempo with surges. (6:58 pace, but a 30 second surge to 6:00 pace every half mile, so the overall average pace was 6:49). In the evening, an hour on the elliptical.
Thursday: In the morning, 12.5 miles outside at easy pace (8:26), plus 10 hill sprints of 13 seconds each up hill of 17% slope. In the evening, 30 minutes on elliptical, plus yoga.
Friday: 10 miles on treadmill, including 5 miles of fartleks -- .25 at 6:08 pace; .25 at 9:17 pace (I wanted to practice some at VO2 Max pace, without actually giving myself the stress of a full VO2 Max workout).
Saturday: Drag luggage through airport and Chicago public transport system. Later 5.5 aerobic miles outside (8:00 pace) plus body weight strength training in hotel room (*grumble* $15 to use hotel gym *grumble*).
Sunday: 12 miles outside along Chicago lakefront at 7:40 pace (!!!) Also drag luggage through airport.
