We'll be awaiting your PR's.

True, but the 38-year old woman has run pretty well at Boston and the Olympic Trials in the past year+.
As for the other old woman in 2nd, she's done alright in the past as well.

Solid time if you're in high school.
More like ELEMENTARY school!!! WHAT?!? EAT THAT, TRUE!!!! HELL YEAH! I'M AWESOME!!!!!!!
come on people. 23:27 gets this much talk? I ran 22:38 for 8k a while back and didn't get mentioned at all. I was 7th in that race but still. There are 50 Americans that can run that solo right now, but he generates this much chat about this? I guess that just means a lot of people like him. I guess a lot of people from Maine post on here and think he is the s**t. I guess respect depends more on where your from than what you run
you guys are complete jerks. seriously. he runs 23:27 and that's not good enough for you? you ran 22:38 and you're complaining that you didn't get enough chatter about it? get a friggin life. seriously. he had a good run, that's awesome. you had a good run, awesome. now go out and do something that matters w/your life, losers.
I think whoever originally started this thread wanted to make a point about the name not the time. If this guy is a sub-4:00 miler who also made a splash in xc and is a recent convert from another sport, he's a reasonably intersting character to follow. Even during the off-season when he's just messing around at local road races.
A few weeks ago Ryan Hall ran a 4:41 mile in a local road race and that was on the freakin' weekly recap. Not because a 4:41 mile is a good time, obviously. Rather because it's cool to follow Ryan Hall during his off-season.

Yes, and 80% of it has been negative and hellishly stupid, like those who have produced it. You should be happy about this.

I believe one of those two statements.

You do know that course was short right?
It wasn't short. A little down hill. Winning time was 22:14 I think. It was 6 Kenyans then me. One of my best races.
I hate to get caught up in the letsrun bashfest, but I do have to point out McDougal used to run tempos about a minute faster than that.
D2xccoach asked if anyone knows what the course/conditions were, and nobody has provided an answer. I lived in Maine for about 17 months. I've never been to Yarmouth, but I've been very close and I'm willing to be the course wasn't downhill. I'm also 99% sure it wasn't flat. It never ceases to amaze me how people assume every road race or cross country course in the U.S. is as easy as the courses in the midwest and on the west coast.
It's a hilly course, starts and finishes at the same elevation. It's also a certified 5 mile, not an 8k on trails (because those are always exactly 8 kilometer's, you whining little b*thc).
Some threads on the first page of the message board that currently have as many or more replies than this one:
"Name for a fake id"
"The Tour de France is the most boring of my lifetime"
"Golf is not a sport"
"I am millionaire and don't want to be taxed..."
And you are upset that a thread about a current US Nats qualifier is at three pages? Get a life.

McDougal's threshold pace was close to 4:30 a mile? So he could have run under an hour for the half-marathon, and sub-27:00 for 10K, but just never got around to it?
And even were this true, it establishes nothing. Someone posting here about those tempo runs could easily be "rebutted" with a comment about how McDougal sucks compared to B-level Africans.
Is there a central production point for all of the twittering idiots on this board or are there several such places spread around the country? Because if it's the former, there's at least a chance that the shipping of these idiots to their various ultimate distribution centers could be choked off at the source. Otherwise a more far-flung and coordinated effort will be required.

It's only getting this many replies because dumbasses like you come on here and say "this doesn't deserve to be talked about!"
Here's a map of the course with an elevation profile:

Not really hilly, but rolling. And it was warm out there.
Here's an article:
http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=269024&ac=PHspt
"Ben True, 23, of North Yarmouth and Sheri Piers, 38, of Falmouth set course records while winning their respective divisions Saturday at the Pat's Pizza Clam Festival Classic 5-mile road race in Yarmouth.
True finished with a time of 23 minutes, 27 seconds – 21 seconds faster than the course record set by Yarmouth's Matt Lane in 2005."
Was Matt Lane never worth taking about either?
On July 4th, he ran 18:58 for a 4-miler that's considerably hillier than the Clam Festival course. That was the fastest time in 22 years.

Thank you. Looks like a good performance to me. 5.07 miles as well. Not many turns, but a very sharp one in there, plus a few turns that are approximately 90-degrees, just enough to take you out of your rhythm.
I think this thread is a classic case of a "hater"posting multiple times under different ID"s.There aint a lotta guys who can solo 23:37 on that course. What was his effort level? He's getting ready for B2B in 2 weeks.(He will not be running all alone in that race).'m predicting 28:40 or better. Not shabby for a 1500m guy. This is actually the first year he's devoted exclusivelly to the sport of distance running. If the "multiple post hater"got his life in better shape and stopped hating on the elites he would be a better runner himself(guarenteed).Just a little food for thought if you took all the sub 13:25 guys in history Maine would probably have as many or close to as many as any other state.(Bruce Bickford,Matt Lane,Louis Lucchini)
per capita on the 13:25 guy's.(Maine and its sub 13:25 guys)

Obviously.
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
