Good hire. I like Watson's results. Watch for UNC to improve immediately.
wonder if he is gonna bring anyone from auburn along or continue to work the intl talent.
New throws coach? Isn't that hammer throw kid there...the AJR holder? He can't be happy about that.

the kid left for LSU about a year ago
Oh yeah...Walter Henning. He did the 3 minute tour of LSU on flotrack. DOH! Can't believe I forgot that. I am appropriately ashamed of myself.
We'll I guess UNC will turn into all kenyans, cause thats all Watson does is recruit kenyans.
All Kenyans? That will be interesting to see at UNC. Let the guy get a recruiting class under his belt at UNC before we start throwing stones. But this IS letsrun, so I dont know why I am wasting my time defending him.

That is not even close to the truth, but that should not stop the myth.
He will bring in the exact type of recruits the UNC Head Coach tells him to recruit, just like he did at Auburn.
I will bet he improves the Men's team UNC. It will quite difficult to improve on what the Women's Mid-Distance / Distance runners did at UNC under Whit. But he will have his chance...
(You can say what you want about Whit and the Men. But he had some pretty good performances on the Women's side. And that is not going to be easily duplicated.)
There are a lot of people on letsrun that don't really understand what it is like to coach for a major program. Your job as a head coach is to get points in your conference and at nationals. At Auburn, Watson had to recruit kids that could come in and score at the SEC and NCAA meet immediately. That's what he did. Sure, his kids came from all over the world but that's the SEC for you. He recruited every footlocker finalist over the past three years. They wouldn't even call him back. Most didn't even know where Auburn was. When he got to Auburn the team just wasn't that good. No good runner wanted to go there. UNC is a whole different ball game. Good runners should want to go there. Watson is a good coach and will work well with American kids just like he did with the ones he had at Auburn. UNC will see a huge turnaround in the next three years just like Auburn saw.
UNC is a sleeping giant on the men's side, however, it's very tough to get kids in from out-of-state. That will be the challenge in re-building the men's team. He needs to steal some of the in-state talent away from NC State to build the distance side of the men's team.
