I'll drive 2hrs away to recruit red blood cells on a flat route.
we live in a hilly area (the only stretch that is flat is the hs track). I do try and drive 1-3 x a week to flat trails. Even up to 40 minutes away. Especially if I want to do a workout or a longer progression run. Aside from running much slower, the hilly terrain can beat me up (downhill more than anything) and I need something flat and fast once in awhile.
