been to nairobi only for one day..seemed like a bigger more cosompolitan city that addis ababa. to be honest, addis sucks big time, dirty, crowded, ugly...any of you want to visit ethiopia, i suggest you go out of addis as soon as possible... but the country side in ethiopia can be very lovely, in the south we have quite green fields, lots of wildlife (Kenya and Ethiopia have very similar wildlife, and there is a lot of migration between the two countries, it is just that the Ethiopian turisum is not organized at all, and infrastructure is also quite bad)..and in the north we have very rich history, civilization more than 2000 years, with lots of oblesks, ancient churchs, monastries and so on...
regarding looks, I think Ethiopian girls are very pretty.. (but have to admit there is not so much middle ground, they are either a 10/10 or below 5/10, at least that has been my experience)..., actually, we Ethiopian are a bit too full of oursleves, whenever we see a very beautiful black girl with a light complexion we are very tempted to go and speak to her in Amharic (ethiopian official language) :-)... but the character is a bit shady, specially the ones in addis, because of the economy and related aspects, most of the girls, specially the hot ones, are gold diggers...I dont know how it is in Kenya, but I assume it is more or less the same in many poor countries. And though Kenya is a bit better than Ethiopia economically, it is still a poor country, so most probably it will be the same story there...
also in Ethiopia, we have lots of tribes...if I remember correctly we have 65+ languages (not dialects), and cultures that are so different from each other...though most of the people in Ethiopia are of lighter complexion than Kenyans, go to the south west and you will find one of the darkest people on earth (I am ashamed to admit that there is a big discrimnation against these "dark" people in Ethiopia :-( )
Running wise, Kenya has a slight better history than Ethiopia (if you consider the last 50 years or so)...but Kenya is like a factory that keeps of producing hundrends of new talents every year, much more than it can accomodate, which leads to the early burnout of some of their runners or the changing of nationalities (so far, very few Ethiopian runners have changed citizenship, while tens if not hundrends of kenyans have done so, sometimes some of their best runners like kipketer and saheen). and due to these most Ethiopian runners stick around much longer than the Kenyans, which makes it easy for them to reach the legendary status (Abebe Bikila, Haile Gebresealssie, Bekele, Dibaba, Tulu, Adere, Wami, ...).
And historically, there is a theory that says most Kenyans emigrated from southern parts of Ethiopia, near the region where most of our famous runners come from (Haile, Kenenisa, Tulu, Dibaba,...)...so maybe we share the same "running gene" :-)
Food...hmmm, never tasted Ugali, but I could kill for Injera with doro wot right now (living in a small town in denmark, where my only access to Ethiopian food is a visit to some not so close friends about once a month):-(
So suffice to say that we are the best two when it comes to running, rather than trying to find out who is better:-)
