You're right. It was not a PR race. Which might explain why none of the top guys got PR's. Europe has PR races. Unfortunately, not Rupps PR's.
The fact remains, practically all the fastest 10,000 meter times by US runners have been set in the US, including the current US record. It made sense for Nenow to go to Europe because he was one of the fastest in the world back then. Rupp is not and will never be. If he wants to improve on his 27:33 he better start training for next year's Cardinal because no European meet will be willing to set up a race for him to run a 27:25. It would be a joke. And if he tries to go out at 27:00 pace it will be lights out Rupp.
