Way too much love for German--heat 2 is right where he belongs. Where is the love for our 2012 Olympian Jon Grey?

Smith isn't trying to shelter his guys from anything. He doesn't think that they will do as well running 64's (which is the pace the top section will be rabbited in) as running 65's (the pace the 2nd heat will be rabbited in).
Is Smith still having everyone run the same pace, like he did in XC when they were all out of shape.
This is why German can run a mile fast, but he doesn't have the stamina for an equivalent or faster for 5k.
question: do they have rabbits for all heats of the 5k?
solinsky is rabbiting the 10k
So it is your contention that:
1) Dave Smith will not allow German to race unless he can beat everyone else in the race (including Olympians)
2) German's confidence would be shaken by being beaten by the likes of Tegenkamp, Cragg, and Dobson- all three of whom are Olympians and have run much faster at 3k than him.
3) That on a bad day German would beat 2 out of the 3 US 5k Olympians and the owner of the 2nd fastest indoor 5k in Collegiate history- someone who was somewhere in the neighborhood of 20sec ahead of him 8k into cross country nationals.
4) That after going out in 8:40 German will close his first track 5k ever in what he closed his indoor 3k pr after going out in 4:14
5) That German could run 13:11, or approximately 1 second per lap slower than the pace of his 3k pr.
I'm sorry I just don't believe that these are reasonable expectations.
I hope he will.
Rumors say Hasay will turn pro after her heat. Armando Sequieros and her parents will be there. I didn't think she was 18 yet and legally able to sign for herself. Will she sign with Asics ? Adidas ? Nike ? Puma ? Strands ?

Rupp is running the 800 and Acosta is recovering from injury.
Rumors are just that. Problem is Hasay is finishing up high school and looking forward to enrolling in Honors College at Oregon and running with all that talent up there for the next four years.
Pros don't have time for college. And an "Honors" at UO, what a joke ! They must be all Stanford close-circuit TV classes that they have for industry.
aka Lane Community College
Ritz' 13:44 race was far from a solo effort- it was at the USATF Track & Field Championships.
I don't get this? If German took off even a few weeks in April why is he running this? He should be going there to watch from the stands. What the hell? He should not be running...you guys find him and tell him I said so!
Will these races be streamed anywhere online? Will Flotrack be there?
Man, every heat is loaded! I'm pumped.
I think that 5k of 14:24 is what he ran for CC at Cal. State High School meet. Its Cross country.
German will run 12:59 just to break 13 and save Bob's record for another day. 12:37 will be dealt with next year.
This kid is GOD!!! don't you understand!??!!
You're talking out of your ass. The acceptance rate at the honors college is almost as low as Stanfords, and the classes are all small (20-25) and discussion based. Certainly preferable to some 200 person lecture taught at colleges around the country.

That is nonsense.
German's 3:55 is equivalent to a 13:07 for the 5k, and the 1500 was indoors which means the 5000 can be a bit faster, also because German is better at the 5k.
It would only be unreasonable due to Smith's program not developing the OSU runner's speed over distance, such distance as is covered in only 5 kilometers.

where is your conversion coming from? Daniels has 3:56 = 7:48 = 13:35, 3:53 = 7:43 = 13:26 and McMillan calculator has 3:55 = 7:48 = 13:36. By the way, German's indoor 3k was 7:48. So, how is it you surmise he is SOOO much better at 5k without any evidence?
And 13:07 for 5k is equivalent to about 7:32 for 3k and 3:48 for mile! Look it up.

...which has yet to be seen.
