I think people are underestimating chelanga. He just beat a quality field and he may have a steeper fitness curve coming up than you would think. I think ncaa could be an epic race. Rupp is certainely in good shape but chelanga could be in american record shape as well!
chelanga!!!! 27:28 - beats rupps old mark

one important question is, what will be the format of ncaa's? galen is certainly doubling and sam is probably going to focus only on the 10K. galen will be measuring his efforts as much as possible.
if galen is healthy, there is really nothing sam can do to shake him. his only strategy would be to take off from the gun (if the 10K is first) and try to sneak away as galen might be reluctant to go if the pace is going near AR pace from the gun and he knows he has the 5K coming still. however at some point galen would react and unless sam can actually run 27:10 by himself, galen will likely bring him in. if it were galen from two years ago it would be close because galen wasn't showing closing speed under 60. now is a different story. they might have galen, luke and shadrack in the race and with shadrack's recent races he is getting a kick of his own. if it doddles too long sam could have two ducks to deal with.
most likely sam will have to lead to make it a 2 man race and galen will overcome him. galen is scheduled for an 800 next week and a mile on the relay the following week. his speed is only improving at this point. -
Is this Carson Caprara??

why don't you guys want to congratulate chelanga for that achievement? If it were Rupp you would surely have sang praises and given him a pat on the back.Chelanga though is kenyan is showing kids in amarica that you can train and live in america and even go to university in amarica and still be one of the best disatnace runners in the world. He is showing that the athletic's system in USA colleges works.

Good analysis
If the Ducks are in title contention, Rupp will sacrifice a 10000 meters attempted win to stay fresh for the 5000 meters and score more points for the team. Of course Rupp would like to do both. :-) -

Rupp isn't sacrificing anything at this point. After indoors, the dude's invincible. He'll run 27:00 to win if he has to. The next day, if he's not feeling great, he'll just sit on the leaders in the 5k. How many NCAA guys are really gonna close with Rupp in a 5k? I don't think Galen believes he can be beat right now. Not by a collegian. -
It's hard to imagine galen getting beat, but the ncaa has a ton of talent right nowm
With guys like coe, fernandez and perhpas sam in the 5k that is an honest race weather slow or fast. Though none of them may run itm
Sam won't make the 10k easy, the question is, how fast will he make it?
Only scenario for galen too maybe lose is a hard paced race by sam in the 10 followed by a hard paced raced by german in the 5. But I still think rupp wins both. His recovery is top notch.
