Son, do your research. Henry Rono has the NCAA record at 27:22 from his amazing '78 season. Chelenga DID dip under Rupps' PR however. Can't wait to see Galen destroy him at NCs.

Whoa, that's about a 20-second PB for Sato! He's been injured for a year but I guess that means he's back. I think that time makes him all-time #3 in Japan, and he just graduated from university this spring. Big future.

Thanks for results.
Sam's time does better Rupp's previous mark. -
Aussie NR by Birmingham
-
Son, do your research and read well. I never said he beat the collegiate record.

I like the way you used "Son" to sound all condescending and shit. Hook, line, and sinker. -

Well the way you wrote old mark, makes it sound like Chelanga beat out one of Rupps records.
He just beat Rupps PR. It's still his current mark though, not an old mark. -
Rono's 27:22 was run out of season, Rupp did hold the CR.

Rupp, not Rono, held the 10000 college record.
Collegiate Records—Men
Records as ratified by the T&FN Records Committee include only those made by NCAA athletes, no NAIA or JUCO performances.
We consider the collegiate season to end with the NCAA Championships, but we do append marks made through August 31 of an athlete's senior year. If a foreign athlete has the best mark, we sub-list the best ever by an American. We also sub-list the low altitude best if the top mark is altitude-aided
Symbols:
' after name = non-U.S. citizen
(AmC) = American-born collegian
(A) = altitude-aided mark--over 1000m of altitude (in affected events only)
i = made indoors (banked-track marks not acceptable)
p = mark still pending ratification

Well the way you wrote old mark, makes it sound like Chelanga beat out one of Rupps records.
He just beat Rupps PR. It's still his current mark though, not an old mark.
ur arguing over semantics. what if the OP said his old PR? it's still Rupp's PR right? the fact is it's a 2 year old mark by Rupp which is without question the ACR and you can debate as the CR. but the rivalry is with Rupp and Chelanga (since Rono is long gone) and the fact is that Chelanga just beat Rupp's old mark. Call it Rupp's PR, PB, best mark or whatever it's Rupp's 2 year old mark. It's worth mentioning because until tonight, Rupp's was the fastest run by a collegiate in quite some time and Sam won the race over a very quality field, suggesting that he might be a threat again to Galen at NCAA's.
According to T&F News Sam now has the CR, since they focus on in season marks.
It doesn't seem likely that Galen will run that fast this regular season simply because he doesn't have one scheduled in so he will have to let it go. Some people recognize performances during the summer after the season (up until august) in which case he could probably get a fast 10K in europe and take down Rono's 27:20 mark. -
Well if it is in fact considered a CR then I take back my previous statement.
I still feel that if you mention someones record as old that there is a new record and the old one was the previous. Rupps record was old the day after he set it. -

Birm helped Sam down the stretch. -
What does "NA" mean after most of their names?
-
Jeez Birmingham has some range!
3:37/3:53 a month back, either side of a 13:16.
