ok so for those of you posting in here, there really is nothing wrong with those times posted for the UD runners, their may be some high schoolers running faster times than some of those, and thats why they are going to AK, stanford, michigan or another school that can give scholarships to runners. i will also have you know there are issues with these schools as well. for instance michigan is taking a 430 miler from MA just because they need the boost in their team GPA in order to still be allowed to compete. also an addition to the information posted before. Mike D. was also the IC4A champion in cross country in his senior year, at van cortland park, and more recently qualified for the olympic trials meeting the A standard of 8:35.
Why would you go digging for this thread? Honestly?
Why am I keeping it on the front page with this post?
"...their (sic) may be some high schoolers running faster times than some of those, and thats why they are going to AK, stanford, michigan or another school that can give scholarships to runners."
Why are they going to Alaska(AK)?
"i will also have you know there are issues with these schools as well. for instance michigan is taking a 430 miler from MA just because they need the boost in their team GPA in order to still be allowed to compete."
What are you talking about? Is there a new rule that your team won't be allowed to compete if your GPA is too low? C'mon what planet are you from?
UD is so bad that when they host indoor/outdoor track meets they score DII and DIII teams apart from the DI teams. This is because the DI teams that show up lose to UD, but the DIII teams that show up would crush the competition.
ok that is not completly true, one d3 team that competes there regularly is lincoln university, the division 3 mens outdoor champions this year. give them a break the d2 and d3 separation is meant to help the smaller schools guage where they are against their competition which does not include the d1 schools.
I never saw this thread the first time around, so I was quite surprised to find it on the front page this morning.
Say what you will about defensive-posting, but I will loyally defend Coach Fischer to no end. While not without my criticisms of him, he took me from 17:33 to 15:18 in 3 years, never set limits on me, and matched my own efforts and dedication equally and more. He is the reason I am running now, and while my current PR of 14:47 is nothing to brag about either, and he hasn't coached me since undergrad, I wouldn't be where I am and doing what I am doing if it wasn't for Coach Fischer.
The only thing pathetic about any of this is the amount of funding he receives from the AD. If he had scholarship money and support, he could do amazing things. I only wish I had more ability while I was there to help the program be more succesful than it was.
Bottom line, Coach Fishcer knows his shit. Should he more aggressively pound the AD's doors and more actively recruit (with no scholarships to offer, mind you) - yes, but he is not totally to blame, and with the exception of one or two cases, Coach Fischer has never squandered any potential. More importantly, he has squeezed out and encouraged potential when no one else saw it.
xc dan why the hell would you bump this thread? Oh wait I remember you, the kid that doesn't even go to UD and goes to some shitty D3 school.
Others include:
TCNJ - would beat UDs men and women
Moravian - would beat UDs women
ok truth take a cheap shot at me, i searched for stuff about delaware and this came up, and i felt like posting considering that mnay of my former teammates and coaches have been targets of assholes like you. and yes their are eligability requirements, for team GPA, if your average is too low, you lose scholarships etc... check it out before you talk shit, and by AK i meant arkansas im sorry i used the wrong abreviation.
THERE = Place
THEIR = Possesion
THEY'RE = They are
You should have learned this around the same time you learned contractions and what they are in 2nd or 3rd grade. Idiot.
my sincerest apologies for any misspellings, or errors with my grammar, i was typing very fast, and hell it is online, who cares
