Going out tonight. 17, male. Can I have 4 or more beers and be 100% on Monday. I don't drink often, that's why I'm asking.

You oughta be fine.
I wouldn't. Four might be enough to affect you. It might not be a huge affect, but why not wait til the season is over? Also, what h.s. meet are you running a 10k at? Or are you really good and running in a bigger meet?
Don't do it. The sleep you get tonight is more important than the sleep you will get tomorrow night. If you're 17 and don't drink: four beers and you'll be wasted.
Four is in the danger zone. Drink 3 or fewer, or 6 or more. My vote is for the latter. You've got all day Sunday to recover.
bad idea - i know everyone does it - just a bad idea - teenage binge drinking. i did it, i regret it - i just hope you and your friends don't get hurt or hurt someone else. the beer will be there when you are a couple years older - there's a big difference in maturation between 17 and 19 and 21, etc. be safe kid.
Allegedly, Henry Rono got totally wasted the night before he ran a 5000-m-WR back in 1981.
Having said this, don't drink more than two beers, still better, don't drink any alcohol at all. My advise would perhaps be different if you were used to drinking. But you wrote you don't drink that often.
So focus on the race. After you performed well you are free to get wasted.
Ask Henry Rono.

Really? I'm not sure that, after a few drinks, there's any difference at all in maturity between a 17 year old and a 21 year old. Except that the 17 year old is more likely to start puking, which will probably prevent him from going and doing anything stupid.
The 21 year old will probably awkwardly hit on any girl around, while the 17 year old will either do that or light something on fire.
There is definitely a difference in maturity between 17 and 21. A high school senior and a college senior are totally different levels.
That said, I've been against high schoolers drinking since 2004 when a friend of mine was driving drunk and involved in an accident that killed a mutual friend. Any of you from CNY probably remember what I'm talking about.
how about you're only 17, so don't drink...it is a slippery slope, wait until you're older...moreover, drinking two days before never allows you to feel quite the same...you'll be dehydrated, probably eat crappy food, spend half of tomorrow recovering...
Two Beers won't make a difference, especially and hour or more apart.
If you start drinking more you'll be pissing a bunch which could dehydrate you.
So ya, I'd go with two. Three if you really spread em out. Four if you start at six and spread it out till eleven.
Just don't get wasted.
Just don't do it. You are too young to be drinking anyway. Nothing good will come of it, trust me.
wow you drink beer and youre underage??! thats so sweet.

OMFG BAN GUNS!!!
No, wait....
Yeah, we should ban alcohol because your friend was killed.
I don't mean to sound like an ass, and I probably do, but I've had three friends killed by alcohol related incidents. You know what? They shouldn't have been doing what they were doing. This isn't a high schoolers vs. adult thing as much as you'd like to make it. Shit happens man. I'm sorry what happened happened to your friend, but it does. I lost my best friend to drinking. It really sucked but you know, it was his decision.
I hope you can find peace.
No need to drink. Find something else to do that won't increase your chances of doing something stupid and jeopardizing your performance in the 10k.
I agree with what many of the others have said. You're underage, you don't need to drink. You should smoke pot, you won't have to worry about a hangover and you'll be fine to drive.
Ended up only having three beers over a 3hr time frame. I should be alright. I'll bump this after the race anyway. If anything, the fact that I only got 5.5hrs of sleep last night might prove more detrimental than the alcohol consumption...
