Has anyone ran in a pair? What are your thoughts?
Do you think they'll start giving out contracts to athletes in Track and Field?
That would be a very nice contract to have considering their gear is awesome.

They're fantastic! I never know how tight to tie the laces though.
anyone else?
you think we'll see any distance runners making a living on a contract with UnderArmor?
They feel like a really tight t-shirt.

Their gear is popular, but not very technical.

I disagree. I used to think it was mostly hype but after trying some of their stuff I've been pleasantly surprised that it's actually higher quality. For example their headbands have a larger diameter than Nike's, so they're more comfortable. They're also made out of a higher quality material that feels better and retains a good feel after many washings. Similar experience with their socks.
these shoes are so tight, I dont even needa condom
I wouldn't mind tryin the Illusions. They are described as a
"...breathable running shoe, engineered for runners with medium, flexible arches and mild overpronation."
They sound like a adidas supernova cushion. There aren't a lot of shoes that fall into this category so I welcome any new comers.

I have the Apparition and have about 80 miles on them. My first thought was it was going to be an overpriced shoe that felt bad. After a couple runs in them I was very surprised. I need a little stability in my shoe, but this neutral shoe felt comfortable, has good cushioning, and fit nice. The upper is comfortable. I have no complaints so far. Under Armor is supposed to have a big marketing blitz behind them during January so it will be interesting to see how the release goes. People around work (none runners) notice the UA symbol and start asking questions because of that name. Overall I think it was a great first attempt by a company that is known for apparel and football type accessories.
funny how when they're called fila no one gives two sh!ts about them, but now everyone is excited about them. Although I do have to admit that when they were fila they weren't bad shoes. Some people really liked the pronounced arches.
As far as contracting track and field athletes, I wouldn't count on it. At least not distance runners. You do notice that their whole marketing campaign is "Athletes Run". In other words they're trying to sell their running shoes to basketball, baseball, football, soccer, tennis, etc. players which is really very smart of them.
Like the rest of their products, it's likely to be reasonable quality but way overpriced. For any particular UA product, you can buy something just as good or better for much less.
I had no idea they used to be Fila. That's interesting.
Can we have like ten more threads a week on these shoes? I think there's a new one every week. More importantly, has anyone and I mean anyone ran a thon in them?
Letsrun remedial grammar lesson:
Incorrect:
. . . has anyone RAN in them . . .
Correct:
. . . has anyone RUN in them . . .
Any questions?
Underarmor will not sponsor elite distance runners and most likely not sprinters because as the owner said last night at the Undarmor high school football all-america game, they are trying to make them appealing to the big 3, fotball, basketball, and baseball.
P.S. - If there is any pronation control whatsoever, it's not like the Adidas Supernova cushion, because that is a neutral shoe.
Fila used to make some great racing flats. I just checkled their site, and under "search by sport" the only sports listed are tennis and soccer, so maybe their running-shoe operation has been absorbed by UA. in about 2001 I heard from a participant that Paul Tergat and his training group had agreed to a sponsorship deal with Fila only when they were promised test models to run in and then to be consulted about later phases of the design. This all happened, and they wore the shoes (and Fila uniforms) in races for several years. I got a pair of those Fila flats (blue with yellow soles and trim) and thought they were amazing--about 7 ounces for a men's U.S. size 10, yet no feeling of vulnerability or extra pounding even during the NYC Marathon. Is there an Under Armor racing shoe?
NO racing flats for Under Armour. They are not catering to YOU, the RUNNER, they are catering to the ATHLETE THAT RUNS, meaning a football, soccer, softball, baseball, etc. player.
Don't hold your breath.
Chris McCormick, the triathlete, is sponsored by them and said in a Slowtwitch article that they would be getting into endurance athletics on par with Nike. He also said he'll be working for them upon retirement due to their long term planned support of endurance sports.
They are horrible. Have any of you actually worn them? Everyone at every specialty store that carries UA got a pair. I haven't met or spoken anyone who liked them.
