Jelimo's mile could be Coe'sk for the Women

Results will be in late Feb. I am sure anything under 4:20 indoor will get noticed online or in the back page of your local paper?

I will say something around 4:16 as a guess though.

The last woman to run a 4:20 or better indoor mile was Yelena Soboleva, who ran 4:20.21 in Moscow earlier this year... but we shouldn't count that one.

Jelimo is a 400m runner turned 800m runner, rather than a 800-1500 runner, so I'd say 4:22-4:23 might be more realistic... which would still be a good time, when you take the dopers off the list.

Unless the pacing is completely off, she'll smash Melinte's WR.

I'd still like to see a chromosome test on her, myself.

Just because she is a *very* good 800 runner doesn't make her a great miler. Like someone else said, she is 400 gone 800, not the other way around. For example, Kipketer was a speed-based 800 runner, and because of it his best mile was a 3:59 (peaked, I'm sure he could have gone at least 3:53 though).

if he breaks the wr, he'll still be one of the slowest milers in africa.

So TY, it sounds as if a Northwest Master - Pamela Jelimo matchup would go right down to the wire, yes? Are you getting ready for another assault on the mile? I just might be able to rabbit the two of you for the first 400m....

I see Burka is running an indoor mile at Karlsruhe in Germany on 15 February, about a week before Jelimo.
