LA and Boston fans can have their petty arguments, but it makes no difference. In June, both teams will have to bow before the might of the KING, who will claim his rightful place on the throne of the NBA. Next two titles are going to Cleveland, and then the King will move his capital to New York, and take another 5-6 titles in the following 8 years or so.
If you don't like LeBron, now is the time to learn to like him.
Lebron is a great player, but he is going to need a lot of help to get past the Magic or the Hawks. And the Knicks will never get good again even with LeBron. I want to see Eastern Conference finals to be the Magic and the Hawks. They are the exciting teams there. Boston is anything but exciting, you just see what a team looks like when they buy a championship.

This right here shows your dismal knowledge of basketball. The 2008 NBA Finals were a one sided match-up. Nearly all NBA fans (except most Lakers fans, of course) would agree that the Celtics dominated, despite the fact that it went to 6 games (remember how the Bulls dominated the Jazz in 6 games in '98).
Sorry but if you have a 24-point lead in the third quarter at home and lose, then that is a butt-whooping. If your league MVP is invisible in an elimination game and loses by 39(!) then that is a butt-whooping.

They were the favorites last year and the Celtics destroyed them. Even after winning the title, the Lakers were again chosen to take the title this year. I'm still waiting for this Lakers team to get a win at the Garden.

I want to marry Natalie Portman! Your aspirations are only slightly more realistic than mine.

Sorry ph but your knowledge of basketball sounds minimal as well. Lebron is going to have trouble getting past the Hawks and Magic? They are worthy opponents but the Cavs are far and away the better team. The Magic still have much to prove in the playoffs. The Cavs are as much title contenders as the Lakers and Celtics. The ECF will most likely be Celtics vs. Cavs.
Are you telling me that if the Knicks get Lebron AND D. Wade in 2010 then they will never win another championship? You know that D'Antoni was assistant coach of the gold medal winning Olympics team in Beijing right? Lebron would fit his style very well.

Sorry all I said was "last year's butt whooping". I was referring to the 39 point loss the Lakers suffered in game six at home. That's all. My point was the game meant more to the Lakers than it did the Celtics, which Derek Fisher admitted.
Although I think both teams would agree with Bill Simmons "You can't get revenge for a 39-point loss in the deciding game of an NBA Finals by beating someone in a regular-season game at home."
Knight, youre kinda a whiny little b1tch, arent ya?
The Celtics fans are the worst! Youve been back handed by two west coast teams, and youre still talkin trash. Ya DONT have the best team in the league, and a 6 game series is dominating anything you moron! Thank god that you guys lost Brady in the first week of the football season. That way your built in excuse was ready & waiting from the very beginning!!!!

I'm still waiting for this Celtics team to get a win at Golden State! How many years has it been? I realize that the Warriors are an impressive force in the NBA, so it's more than understandable.
I don't watch football so I don't know what Brady has anything to do with the Lakers vs. Celtics? Please add something productive to the thread. Not sure what trash talk I am talking? I just made an argument and defended it with articles from reputable sources.

Because you have been the pinnacle of sportsmanship throughout the entire thread? Maybe if you put in that last bit of extra effort you could be more of a hypocrite, but I sincerely doubt it.
I notice that you conveniently ignored my last post, also. I can't blame you. I'm sure that Doc Rivers would rather focus his attention on the weaklings in the east, too.
this guy again? wrote:

Actually, the Pats are probably where they would be at this point with or without Brady. And now they have a QB controversy going into next year what with two QBs that could start for any team in the NFL. You have to give Belichek credit... he gets the organization up and running, no matter the adverse circumstances.
That said, Boston fans are some of the worse I've ever encountered, yes indeed... I wonder if they all had their stupid rally caps on sideways rooting for the Celts on X-mas? But, I would also agree that the game really meant nothing, other than a boost of confidence that LA may, just may have finally arrived this year. I also agree that Bynum would have made a difference last year, but the Celts were still the stronger team. If LA could have won the game where they were down like 24 or 27 points before coming all the way back with like two minutes to go in the game, that would have swung the series, but they didn't and it didn't.
I will be rooting for the Nuggets (who I believe will eventually become LA's biggest nemesis late in the year with the return of Billups) and against the Celtics all year. Boston and Philly fans man... all I can do is shake my head.
I couldn't care less about football, please get back to the original topic.
The 07-08 Lakers are 0-4 at the Garden. Your rebuttal was that the Celtics lost a meaningless game at Golden State? How about LA's meaningless loss at Sacremento? No one will remember those losses in June, but they will remember the Dec 25 and Feb 05 games.

You aren't the brightest bulb on the tree, are you Knight? Either that, or you are another teenage troll who is enjoying some antagonistic fun on the message boards while school in on holiday break. Possibly both!
This really isn't rocket science, but I will slow down a bit more for the Massachusetts readers. You said you are waiting for this Lakers team to win in the Garden, and I replied by stating that I am waiting for this Celtics team to win in Golden State! It has been what, 4 or 5 years since they have? Until Doc Rivers can FINALLY lead Boston to a road victory against the pathetic Warriors, Celtics fans can't criticize anyone else for failing to win on the road.
Grow up, Knight. Your fake holier-than-thou b.s. doesn't hold any water. You were the very FIRST Boston troll to talk trash in this thread, so you surrendered your right to chastise others for doing the same.
The Celtics have traveled to the west coast and immediately found themselves bending over & grabbing their ankles during their first two games. You had better tell "the big 3" to stock up on their supply of KY, Knight! The pain isn't over yet!
Don Nelson wrote:

Not so fast, "coach!" Your memory is fading in your old age, but if the Boston fans are half as smart about their basketball as they claim to be they will remember that my boys won 48 games last season. Yeah, we didn't make the playoffs, BUT we would have been the #4 seed (and had first round home-court) in the LEAST-ern conference last year.
Wow, I thought the trash talk on Christmas was not in the spirit, but this thread has stayed alive? It is December, six months from the Finals. Should Ainge blow up the team with these 2 losses? Are the balloons being ordered for the celebration? (ok cheap shot here, maybe the ones from '69 are kicking around.)
I appreciate that some fans have passion for their team but remember, none of these players will help your workout tomorrow.
The original poster gets an A. If you were shooting from the hip, you are a lucky dude. If you analyzed that the streak would create it's own pressure that once surpassed a letdown would be natural, especially on a west coast swing, then your NBA instincts are excellent. Boston fans should've seen it coming with the excuse making stories about what to do with your kids' toys on Christmas before they left.
To the Laker fans, the facts show that our rivalry has been largely imbalanced on the Boston side. To get overly excited about a December win, especially after the pathetic showing your team gave last June is silly. During half time, (I think, I had kitchen detail), I looked up at Magic interviewing Kobe. Some here cite Bynum the difference maker (Celtic fans should lament Possey moving on),but your problem as a team was staring at you on the tube. You had the greatest opponent in our rivalry, a guy who wanted to win, who competed til the end, who always found a way to win asking softball questions to a guy who has game, but no heart. He quit on you last spring (just as Wilt quit in '69) because he doesn't have the passion. Shaq brought that for you earlier, but Kobe will need to show he has it before you get another crown.
We may meet again this spring, I hope so, but there are more games to be played. I'll watch some of them on the treadmill and enjoy the diversion.

Of course, old man. If you go back to the 40s, you can certainly say that! Why don't we try to focus our attention on something just a LITTLE more modern, such as the last 20 years? At least that covers one lifetime. In that time frame, the Lakers have been to the NBA Finals seven times and walked away with three championships. On the other hand, the Celtics can only claim one. You're right... that does sound largely imbalanced!
Boston29 wrote:

You are absolutely right! LoL!! I mean, forget the fact that at the beginning of the year none of the experts picked them for the NBA Finals. Of course when the playoffs rolled around they still underachieved, right? As I seem to recall, it was the first time in history that there were 8 teams in the playoffs from the same conference that had won 50 (or more) games, making it the most competitive conference ever. In stark contrast, the Eastern Conference had no less than three teams make the playoffs without a winning record! Pathetic is definitely an appropriate word to describe Boston's competition in the east.
So once again, we have another biased clown who thinks that a six-game NBA Finals series is "pathetic." Go back to your bitter northeast cold that matches your attitude, old man. For the sake of the young Massachusetts athletes, I sure as hell hope that you don't coach!

Gladly. Your team is nothing but a bunch of posers! So now, they are marching home after a 1-3 road trip. And this is supposedly "the best team in the league," huh? Absolutely pathetic! I hate to break the news to all of the Celtics fanboys, but padding their W/L record because they are simply the "beast of the least" doesn't make them the best. The only way they are ever going to see 72-10 is if they do with EA Sports! LoL!!

I just want to know what happened to Brian Boston and why he doesn't have the balls to post on here anymore? Easy to do a drive-by, eh? Rather difficult to take one's medicine. I guess it's back to dyestat for the 16-year olds among us.

Not all of them. At least Dark Knight made another appearance, but watching his team get spanked on their West-coast trip still wasn't enough to snap him back to reality.
Unfortunately, that's one luxury that the DyeStat kiddies enjoy on these message boards. If they talk trash and it ends up coming back to haunt them, they can simply change their screen name and disappear on LetsRun. If they get carried away in SteveU's corner of the world, they get banned.

It's tough to win when you play 5-on-6. :)

I think that is a fair statement given that they are the defending champions. They proved it beyond any reasonable doubt last season. Of course, this is a new season and the debate will rage until mid-June. Fun!
