Why not just have it in Terre Haute where the NCAA's are?

I live close to Rochester now, highs are in the upper 20s today and there is a snow underfoot with skiffs of ice ie icy patches under foot, FYI! It does not deter me from running out of doors up to 60 miles a week.
True cross country is often about the elements and the true grit it takes to prevail in them.
The colder, the muddier, the snowier the.....fill in the blank... the greater the challenge.
I think these teams listed on USATF are up to such a challenge!
Thanks for your vote of encouragement....I'll let you know! ;)
Will,
I read your prediction on
for Team Nebraska to get 7th place. I hope the boys run well. I hope you have a good race in the master's division as well!

Challenging, yes, especially the last sentence. Do the airlines charge extra if you check your snow machine? ;-)

Sounds like us big dudes are going to a new meaning to the term "displacement".
THIS WILL
MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
This is the point. And even if we as runners are pigheaded enough to fight our way to the race site, what guarantee is there that enough volunteers are going to do the same to make the races work?
I can see a non-trivial possibility that the race will be called off on safety grounds. It happened to Western States.

"meteorological bomb"
Sounds like you guys should pack your snowshoes.
Can we run this race on the treadmill instead???
Michael Gerber...
Will it be two in a row?
Stay tuned...
Anybody reading this in Spokane? How's the weather there right now?

This is a TEAM event, with team Only money. The winning individual is not important.
Yes, I'm sure the people who have a chance to win outright feel the same way...not.
The first wave of snow just hit Spokane, but the worst isn't supposed to be here until early Saturday morning.
Oh baby, this is the first wave all right. It is coming down hard right now. Since this is coming in harder than expected for Friday afternoon, I wonder if Saturday morning is going to be blizzard like.
The precipitation right now is supposed to be rain. The air temperature is sitting right at 32, but the wind chill reads 25, so from here on out it will all be snow.
Let the racing begin . . .
Some OTC people are not showing up due to inclement weather. For one, Will Leer will not be there. I have heard rumors others would not be as well. That would suck, but open things up for other teams I guess?
Well, we're staying at the same hotel as OTC and the front desk just got a call from them saying that their flights out of Eugene were cancelled, so they cancelled their rooms as well. And its snowing like a mother now.
Bauhs is fearing Brian Sell, according to his blog! Sweet race will unfold in the snow... watch for a surprise harrier!
I hope that you are wrong and OTC is not pussying out. It is only about an 8 hour drive. Please do not use the flight excuse.
I coach a guy who is stuck on the pass (via tacoma) and has been so since 1 p.m. Many roads are closed or closing and driving to Spokane is not a good gig right now. Very icy-greasy stuff, black ice, treacherous, might even be hard to walk around in at some point.
If it's too bad to fly, then it's probably too bad to drive eight hours. If the weather is as bad as everyone says it is, I do not blame any teams for not showing up. I sure wouldn't call OTC pussies if they don't drive through a blizzard from some xc meet.
