i recently filched a copy of martin and coes book, with the interest of applying some type of multi-tier framework to a marathon training scheme. however, they dont really seem to mention specifics in applying the 10k type stuff to the thon, aside from a longer long run and being extra careful with nutrition and such. im really interested as to what/how specific paces would be used within a given "mesocycle", as they say. and all horwill says is to be really, really skinny :) can anyone shed light more light on this?
as an aside, i once thought that the the multi-tier and lydiard methods were diametrically opposed camps of distance thought, (with the purported way the kenyans train somewhere in between) but the more i look at the both, the more similarities i see (possibly the kenyan system as a realized marriage of the two, which would, you know, explain a great deal, dr rosa quips aside)
merci beaucoup
