Two years ago I fractured my outer heel and have struggled with heel discomfort ever since. To a point where I can't consistently train.
In the past I had calf problems (tightness) and plantar tightness so went from 11.5oz shoes to around 9.5oz shoes and the tightness went away, I felt great. I become over enthuised and went down to 6.5 and 7.5oz shoes and did well in them for two years until the fracture occured.
Since I have learned that the 6.5 to 7.5 oz shoes are too minimal for me, my heel won't get better. The 9.5oz shoes are almost there, but the heel starts to bother me the faster I go. I tried 11.5oz shoes again and the cushioning feels great for the heel, but my calf and achiles tightness returns.
I've been labeled a nuetral runner, but slightly break in at the inner ankle, which I think may cause the stress on the heel. So, here's the question. In this case would it be beneficial to try a posted shoe, around 9.5oz?
My shoe's have gone - Asics Hyperspeed (6.5), Speedstar (9.5), Nimbus (11.5). Would the DS Trainer (9.5) be an option.
Anyone out there who has had such, or close, to an experience or can lead me to a past post on the topic?
