Which burns more calories in 30 minutes....
Running on the treadmill at 8 minute mile pace
or
an INTENSE game of 1 on 1 basketball

Basketball, because you\'re more likely to be burning calories for a longer period afterwards. Though I find 5 on 5 to be more calorie burning due to the full court aspect, though I suppose it really depends on how much you fastbreak.

agree. your heart rate is going to be higher because you are making faster movements for sustained time. LSD doesn't burn as many calories as people think (especially at 8min pace).

It's like comparing apples to oranges. Of course you are going to burn more, if one is INTENSE and one is relaxed.
What burns more: running an INTENSE 30 minute workout on the treadmill, or playing a relaxed game of basketball?
Duh

Are you really that ignorant? What about Kara Goucher, Galen Rupp, Dathan Ritzenhein, to name just a few? Still talking "B-list trials qualifiers?"
Kara - EPO
Galen - Enough said
Dathan - One big injury
My point was that many elite athletes occasionally use a treadmill. You could insert just about any "A-list" name and you'd find they probably train on a treadmill at times.
Geb does.
