Anyone else seen this. I don't know much about 400m training or even 800m but surely there is quite a big difference in training for these two events. Is he doing 15 milers on the weekends to keep his aerobic endurance!?

Rooney has stated many that he would like to move up to 800m - he clocked 1:50.55 a couple of years back in an end-of-season meeting and so I'm sure he can go much quicker. He was coached up to 18 by Mike Fleet who was an international 400(48.3)/800(1.48.2) runner in the 60s.
Isn't he coached by Mike anymore? Is he still with Croydon?
He stills runs for Croydon but generally it seems to be that Nick Dakin at Loughborough is mentioned as being his coach.

He can do it just like the new Kenyan prodigy known as Pamela Jelimo.
I dont know the guy personally but see him around at a few races and cant imagine he does a lot of mileage. He is a fluid, stronger runner but would need to build his aerobic base big time
will never be a top 400 man except in Europe, should move to US and run the 800 where we are weak.
he can get down to maybe 44.5 in 'king, but that's his limit for this year
he runs a perfectly paced race, so nothing to shave off due to poor tactics, but he lacks 200m speed - until he finds more, 44.5 is it
still, that may get him in the dog-fight for bronze
