Bolt has established himself in the prelims as a force to be reckoned with. So there's no way the final will be tactical, as the field knows Bolt can close the last 200 in (2 x 9.72 = ) 19.44 seconds. So Bekele is reeling of 63 second laps, and Bolt is yawning - that's 31 second 200s!
Bolt doesn't have much experience with distance races, so when he hears the bell he casually pulls up beside Bekele as asks him what the bell means. The near-immortal Bekele grimaces (they're on world record pace) and, incredibly, manages to accelerate. Bolt, jogging alongside, catches on that they must be almost finished already, and throws in a (4 x 9.72 = ) 38.88 final lap.
