If you can run 1:56.5 on a 4:30 1600. How fast could you run the 800 at 4:20 or 4:15 if you could improve your strength without sacrificing any speed.

Yer "speedy", cus I did 1:58 / 4:15.
Read about Ovett in 77-80. He and Harry always believed that they were ready for a superb 800m without really going to town on the "speed aspect" of that event in training.
The 800 is a bit different than other events because it can be approached a lot of different ways. Two guys might run 1:52 with one being a 48.x 400 runner and the other being a 4:00 miler with a 51.x 400 PR. This makes it pretty hard to estimate how much your 800 will improve by improving your mile time. One year I improved my mile time by about 8 seconds, but my 800 only improved by 1 second. The next year I improved my mile time by 9 seconds, and my 800 time dropped 4 seconds.
You won't really know how much a faster mile will help your 800 until you run one.
according to those times your 1600m time is clearly your weakness, so yea your a speedy guy, but if you improved your mile time to 4:20 you would probably be at 1:53ish
