Apparently Chanelle Price set a new national prep record for the girls' 800m distance, winning the pennsylvania state meet in 2:02.90. pretty amazing.

NFHS record, not national record. Kim Gallagher's 2:00.07 from '82 is still tops. The NFHS does not recognize Michael Carter's 81'3" shot put either.
2:02.90 in a H.S. race is pretty impressive. I don't envy the pressure on Chanelle to break one of the strongest H.S. records on the books. It is going to be very difficult; the difference between 2:02.90 and 2:00.07 is a chasam.
People don't talk about Kim Gallagher very much except when a H.S. athlete approaches one of her records. Kim was a uniquely talented and was w/o a doubt America's greatest H.S. track and field athletes male or female. It is ashame that Kim became so obsessed with the 800 when she was actually s long distance runner and would have put the mile and two records almost out of reach of todays athletes if she had ran it when she was in the shape when she ran her 800m record.
