If she thinks she's a miler she should be running 2:04-2:05 this close to the Olympic Trials. Maybe they went out slow -- Schmidt is capable of maybe four seconds faster than 2:03. Hall (no offense to her terminally erect fan brigade) won't make the Beijing squad unless she has a major breakthrough anyway.

sara hall needs to stop training at altitude under vigil's crew and change coaches to someone like john cook or jerry schumacher or stanford's coach. because she does not seem to be having any success. either she should be running different races or doing different training. she seems to have been stagnant in her progress for a while now.

Joe Vigil retired in 2004. Terrance has been the man in charge for almost 3 years. The same man that was coaching Deena during her american record. The same guy that has been coaching Ryan Hall for all of his pro career. Don't feel bad for missing the memo. Joe Vigil was still receiving credit for national championships at Adams State over a decade after he reired.

i don't know why i thought that she was taking the long distance tack like her husband. i remember now that she's been primarily a miler her whole pro career.

maybe jesus isn't very happy with her right now?

also, considering that ryan wasn't "given" the victory in boulder today - maybe jesus isn't on their side anymore. just a thought.

yeah but i think mahone uses vigil's philosophies and techniques on training marathon runners, and hall and deena are marathoners, not 800m-1500m runners, so i don't understand how someone who spent his life's greater works learning how to train long distance runners has something in their that will help an 800m-1500m runner reach her full potential, training and living at altitude half the year.

Terrance uses SOME of Vigil's philosophies. Terrance is a far better marathon coach than Vigil. Vigil is the best cross-country coach this country has ever seen. Neither coach does a great job for an 800-1500 runner.
