If one start in base training with the following intervals 1 day a week and used them all the way through the peak do you think this would work. the other session would be a long run and either full recovery 200s or a tempo run.
early base: 3 weeks
3x4000 long tempo pace with 3 minute jog rest
late base: 3 weeks
4x3000 tempo pace with 3 minute jog rest
early season: 3 weeks
5x1600 3 minutes rest @ 10k pace
mid season: 6 weeks
week 1,2: 5x1200m 3 minutes rest @ 5k pace + 3 seconds
week 3,4: 6x1000m 3 minutes rest @ 5k pace
week 5,6: 7x800m 3 minutes rest @ 3k pace
late season: 3 weeks
week 1: 4x400m 3 minutes rest @ mile pace
week 2: 4x300m 3 minutes rest @ between 800-mile pace
week 3: 6x200m 3 minutes rest @ 800 pace
