Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this problem I'm having now with my knee. It started last July and has been bothering me since. There is an actual "popping" in my knee. Like if I bend it and then straighten it out again when it straightens out there will be a second of pressure and then an actual popping and the pressure will release. It's reallly directly behind the knee where the teondons conect with the hamstring and if you put your finger there you can feel it pop and sometimes I swear you can even hear it. I know your knee is supposed to pop a little, but I can't even notice it in my right knee, while in my left it's impossible not to feel.
This injury first came up and it hurt a lot. I took a couple weeks off, then started running through it evevn though it hurt, it went away for a while. I took time off after my Cross Country season and then when I started running again it hurt a lot. I ran through and eventually the pain went away mostly and it became more of an annoyance/tightness than actual pain. But while the pain has been off and on, the popping has been continuous. And while it might not be particulary painful all at once, it's still not been fun to train with and really sucks the enjoyment out of running because it's always there making what should be a nice run feel wrong.
Now track's over and I've taken 3.5 straight weeks off and I'm not sure what to do. My leg feels fine, no pain or anything, but the popping is still there and I don't know if that's ok to run on or if I should wait for that to go away...if it goes away. I had an MRI done and there was no tear or anything, the doc told me I had a "Baker's cyst" which is "fluid buildup" behind the knee whatever that means. He made it seem like it was something that would go away with time and really didn't have much treatment for.
But I still don't know if that's what's causing the popping or what. And I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and could share some insight. Thanks.
