in the base phase, it's not wise to do 2 or 3 hard workouts cause that could kick start the anaerobic development phase.
what if you just did maybe one semi-hard workout a week as long as the proportion of aerobic running to that workout was really high. for example, like 100miles/week with one day of 8X200s, a or you know some kind of speed. is that the correct thinking?
also, what kind of development does that speedwork do for you(i see once a week workouts in the base phase in several training plans like lydiard, etc.)? do these once a week workouts give you some anaerobic benefit? 'cause i thought that once the anaerobic development starts, then the aerobic development stops.
