So the other day I was talking to a friend who works at a major university, and she told me that she has been receiving complaints recently from companies that hire their graduates because the parents of the graduates are now demanding that they be allowed to attend job interviews with their son or daughter. What the hell is wrong with 1) parents who think that treating their twenty something year old like a 5 year old is really in the best interest of their offspring, and 2) the interviewee who actually wants to have their parent there? I can't be the only one here who thinks that this is absolutely pathetic. If I asked my mom to come to an interview with me when I was applying for my first job as a middle schooler she would have laughed in my face, and rightfully so.
If I were in charge of hiring, I think I'd allow people to bring their mommy with them. It would be an easy way to weed out the most obvious losers. Anyone who shows up with a parent clearly doesn't view himself or herself as an adult, so why should they be hired for a job in the adult world.
