I prefer the discussions here. You may choose to take that comment personally, as a compliment, but why on earth would you take criticism of the software personally and take a defensive stance on it?

Haha. Wouldn't be the only one who types without thinking and editing a lot. Try cardinally.
If Scott Simmons were his coach - he wouldn't be injured and he would be racing on par with Hall!
a foot injury now? i thought it was his IT band before.
what is the injury?
I think that it should be pointed out that his training partner (Jason Hartmann) pulled out of Payton Jordan.

Not a logical inference. The guy said the LR software is inferior, which it probably is. His point was he wished LR had an editing feature, so that after you post you could correct spelling and grammar. So do I. Sometimes I wonder if someone moved all of the letters on my keyboard around!

Nope, they sure as hell don't come knocking on my door for the answers, but I do have experience with this, both as an athlete and a coach. And I have many years of dialogue with many other coaches and many friends who fit the "crash and burn" mold. You can take the advice or leave it. Doesn't matter to me. I sure as hell would not have had Ritz, of all people, racing in January/February. To me, that borders on stupidity. Perhaps he has a contract obligation.
I think you're trying to establish a causal relationship where there is none.
Did Jason Lunn's not running races in January cause his current injury? What about everyone else who raced in January, is that supposed to cause injury in May, as well?
Injuries are a natural and unfortunate risk implied with the training that is required for one to be the best that they can be. Sometimes the timing is terrible, other times the timing is a blessing in disguise.
Association is not causation, no doubt about it. But not only is this Ritz we are talking about, but it's after a superb marathon effort mere months before. I just think it lacked astute planning and risk management. And we are not talking about an injury in May. We are talking about multiple injuries since the winter, including one during national cross. Perhaps it is the same injury. I would give you better than even odds that's the same injury cycle.
As for the blessing in disguise part, you couldn't be more correct.

If you read the actual article, it notes that Ritz developed anemia after being treated with anti-inflammatories for 6 months.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark that if you're using that much NSAIDS, you're probably not completely healthy.
I guess that means that Ritz is not using PEDs. Or else he is doing a really crappy job with them.

Hall-healthy
Ritz-having injury issues
Sell-having injury issues (hip problems, said it flared up 8 miles into a tempo run last week)
KK-getting old. Is he training right now?
Lehmkuhle-healthy
Browne-blew up at the Stanford meet last week. Is he in any kind of shape?
NATE JENKINS IS GOING TO THE OLYMPICS!!!!
Lehmkuhle is NOT healthy right now...had a dinged up hammie before pacing London which made it much worse.
That's just as well, because even if Browne is on crutches he will fake being able to walk long enough to accept the Olympic spot and take the $20k training stipend.
Hall, Browne, and NJ it is! They will finish 3rd, DNF, and 10th.
NJ, how's the training going? C'mon man, we all know you read any thread that talks about injuries to Ritz and Sell.
Either way man, we are all looking for you in 2012.
Sell is not hurt. He has a training ache or pain. I bet he wins the 25k. He has not pulled out of any scheduled races like Ritz or JENKINS who was supposed to run Boston.
what kind of fvcktard coach with all of nike's resources allows a blue chip athlete to develop anemia?

Not Scott Simmons! ;)
I swear the US either has horrible luck or some of the dumbest runners in the world. I am a huge Ritz fan, but I think both damn times Culpepper has been in the Olympics he was sick on race day, last time because he got a bug in the Olympic Village or something. God only knows what the hell Webb is going to do this year, and although I like him as well I think there is a very low likelihood he will get a medal and this has to be as good of a shot as he is going to have in the Olympics. Why the hell was Ritz running cross country this year I wondered from day one? He flew to Europe, got dinged up. He came back ran US XC dinged up. It is absolutely idiotic. How do these people have coaches dumb enough to allow to race that way? I am so sick and tired of guys getting to the Olympics or WC and they are "sick" or injured. IF this is simply a $$ thing for Ritz from USATF for winning and a contract incentive from Nike then I get it, but to chase a small amount of $$ at the cost of screwing up an Olympic year is the dumbest thing in the world. The people that say well there athletic career isn't going to be that long they need to make the $$ when they can make it are idiots. They act like these people quit doing everything when they retire. The rest of us hear live in the real world and have to get a job to support our family. Why they can't do the same doesn't make sense. I am so damn frustrated with the idiotic way US runners train OR whatever they do to screw up Olympic and WC years boggles my mind.
A lot of people, not just American T&F athletes, got the flu in Sydney
Last time Culpepper was in the Olympics he finished 12th in a very stacked marathon. And he ran gutsy enough to fight off a guy on the track to hold 12th.
You donlt have to bend EVRY fact to make your point.
