Why do you say that? I don't get that at all. She made some good points, I thought.

Why does the OP say "take it deep" at the end of all his posts???

I guess you're not gay.

It's the proverbial mantra of the bottom dweller (i.e. the one who drops the soap) in a male-male relationship. The OP is signaling his sexual preference in a sort of code. There's nothing wrong with that.
u are a pretty stupid close minded idiot that hurts kids every day with dumb selfish undocumented decisions.
I ve seen so many head coaches way dumber than their assistant coaches. What you want is dictatorial .

Ethics? ETHICS? Are you fist f***ing me? Do you really f***ing think that an assistant coach suggesting a better f***ing way to do handoffs in a f***ing 4x4 is not f***ing ethical behavior?
Ha – kinda similar.
I was a volunteer distance coach at a HS – “first” yr but 40yrs of coach and competition in the sport (and no stranger to sprint stuff). Part time (paid) sprint coach who was sposed to be the big time sprint coach in the state. We were at Pocatello for the Simplot games – girls running 4x200 – hadn’t even practiced any handoffs at all. None. Their first meet of the season as a relay team. The hand off zone was right at the turn – don’t ask me why. So our school had a pretty decent chance of placing well. I only casually knew Mr big (sprint) shot – but enough to know he was more than full of himself. So I told him you might want to have the girls do an open hand off because of (stuff I said above) rather than blind. This guy goes ballistic saying that shows how little you know about the sport and sprints and I don’t know what else. I said easy big fella have it your way. Sorry for volunteering a suggestion.
Race starts – first handoff is completed – ugly and … losing yards. Second hand off – dropped baton.
While I felt somewhat smug, I felt very bad for the girls – who were crying on the infield and when they came up to the stands – Mr Big boy was furious with THEM. HE didn’t make the mistake – THEY did. Takes all kinds. The way he behaved over the next few years did nothing but continually reinforce the opinion I had of him – hard to be ‘forgiving’ when the athlete gets the short end of coaches ineptness.
There that should help you.
Oh our distance girls did quite a bit better than his fairly talented group of girls. He was beyond reproach
head coach knows it all - no - but they are the head coach, just like supervisors/management people have .... well I'll stop
good luck

You really should read through all of the posts before responding. Your approach makes you look kind of silly.
I'm not close minded. If anyone, it's the OP who may be close minded. Sure most coaches teach open handoffs for the 4x4, but what's wrong with considering a different approach? Everyone thought Lydiard was an idiot when he proposed high mileage for his athletes, but now he is revered. He wasn't afraid of trying something different and possibly failing. No good coach should be afraid of stepping out of the box occasionally.
This is not an issue of who is "dumber." The assistant did the right thing by discussing his thoughts with the head coach. The head coach, however, makes the final decision and it is the role of the assistant coach to publicly suppor that decision.
(P.S. What's a "dictatorial?")

No, I don't think that is unethical at all. What IS unethical is going behind your head coach's back to slam her on a public message board. Get it?
She could be wrong. However, you should never show-up another coach in front of the athletes. You have to find a way to correct her without being disprespectful.
By having a contest of blind hand offs versus the standard, you will be displaying her as a joke to all the athletes, and they will no longer respect her. You might even cause a division in the ranks. That would be worse.
