I'm a masters (woman) runner who is finally succumbing to peer pressure and running my first marathon this fall.
I've used Daniels Running Formula in the past to train for shorter distances and it worked well for me. I haven't raced for a few years but pulled out my book and started working out the schedule from Daniels Marathon "A" plan.
I've been running about 40 mpw over the winter and getting to 60 won't be a problem, not sure I have the time between now and the race to go much higher than that.
The long runs in the schedule tend to be either 25% of the week's mileage (which for a 60 mi week would be 15 mi) or he has a couple of runs that are listed as 22 miles or 2:30 whichever comes first. For me 2:30 is going to come ALOT sooner than 22 miles. I'm looking at maybe 17 miles.
I'm obviously not expecting an amazing race this fall, but I'd like to run a race in line with my 10K times, if at all possible. Am I going to be in trouble if my longest training run is 17 miles?
Thanks for any help.
