I had a tough week, running wise. I have a race (half-marathon) in two weeks, up to now I have been feeling great - mileage in the mid to high 50's for 8 weeks (I am 45 and been running for 4 years, this is my highest mileage I have done - with higher intensity runs for 2 to 3 days/week). All of a sudden my legs are dead, I drag myself through runs and am feeling really worn out. I had a 3-5 mile tempo run on Wednesday that I only drug myself through 4 miles of - and felt horrible. Still managed to eek out 52 miles, but not feeling very encouraged right now.
Good news was I did do a hilly 14 mile run today on the grass, felt better at the beginning than I have all week. Pretty bummed though, I am thinking of bagging the race (I would have to travel to it). Trying keep focused on recovery and and eating well. I have a VO2 max workout this week, and depending on how that goes I will decide ...
