What day is the meet this weekend?
wtf Michael Shelley is a gun runner. and who ever picked brad woods as last place is stupid, he ran a 3.37
woods will be top 5
I think the issue with Mottram being overrated is that he is overrated with respect to many, many, MANY little-known, under-rated African runners who have comparable or faster PR's. With respect to non-African runners and runners to come out of the American collegiate system, Mottram should be compared favorably almost all of the time.

Mottram is good, but overrated
I always question how someone can say a dude with a WC bronze medal, a 3:48 mile, 8:03 2-mile, 12:55 5k can be f***ing overrated. He is a damn good runner who has beaten some f***ing awesome runners on the world stage, he deserves all the praise that comes his way.
Craig Mottram can be a very good, top runner, sometimes. He already is a top runner, but by top, I mean able to beat the likes of Bekele, Sihine, etc. I think the main thing is that he hasn't been very consistent over the past couple years. He runs some fast times for it being early in the season and often has a good start but then falters somewhere along the way. Maybe it's that he's always just 6 weeks away from being in 13:00 5k shape, I could see where that could take a toll on the body. I bet Mottram runs 27:30 at this meet.
Correct.
Ok, I can respect that. I guess in a way I can kind of agree with him at times being overrated, World XC is a good example. On the track though I don't consider him overrated at all. Depending on how he runs here and a few other races I would think he will be one of the favorites for an Olympic medal this summer.
Mottram will not run.

I think that for someone like Mottram (or Teg) to beat Bekele/Sihine, they HAVE to be inconsistent. They are not quite on that level and they have to be variable for their top to be high enough to knock of those at the very top. Mottram has been successful at doing so; expecting him to do it consistently is unrealistic.
hahaha, so hesch really has started a trend. can't wait to see mottram run this 10 in some hurley boardshorts. from the article above:
"So for a year-and-a-half I got up at 5am, five mornings a week, and went swimming. I was actually too embarrassed to wear Speedos, instead preferring board shorts because I wasn't very good."
This also seems like a good point. I'd like to add, though, that the inconsistently top performance from Mottram (or a similar runner- maybe Ritz?) has to coincide with a similar, inconsistently bad performance. For instance, if the 10k is won in 26:40, then it will not be won by Mottram; but if the 10k is won in 26:55, then it might be won by Mottram. This is really a way too complicated way of saying that Mottram has to have his best day when Bekele etc. has to have his worst day, but the matter is more complicated when you take into account 26mi235's point that Mottram probably has a narrower peak time than the Africans.

Mottram will never break 27 for 10k.
